Do the iPod shuffle

What do you do if you're a loyal believer of the Steve Jobs religion and his Techness has just shown you the latest iPod shuffle? You assemble at the nearest Apple Store of course to get your hands on one of the devices.

Picture_1
With an Apple Store only blocks away from the Moscone Conference Center in San Francisco, some Apple devotees walked over right after Jobs wrapped up his keynote, just like Jobs suggested when he said that he believed that a few of the devices would be for sale there.

Of course Jobs wants nothing but the best for his loyal following. So in his endless wisdom he has created a fair distribution model for the iPod shuffles. New batches of the device are being made available every two hours. The mac revolution after all is here for everybody, not just for those who rush out of the keynote the fastest.

Why is everyone crazy about the i pod its big and only uses i tunes, a few years ago apple where the outcast brand. There are many smaller mp3 players out there why do Apple get such special treatment. All i can say is look for a equal product dont be swayed by good advertising.

Sony all the way

Give me a Creative Zen mp3 jukebox any day. It's not as pretty as the iPod, but it has a longer battery life. And the battery is removable! Not to mention the fact that the Zen is much cheaper and you're not restricted to iTunes. No contest really.

I keep seeing this "restricted to iTunes" comment and it's just silly. All of the online music stores use DRM, so one could just as easily say that the Creative Zen product is "restricted" to protected WMA files.

Besides, more tunes have been downloaded from the iTunes Music Store than anywhere. It's like complaining that a boat is "restricted" to the Pacific Ocean.

I was using a Creative Zen Xtra for a while, and found the interface a little sluggish. I originally went for the Zen because I was pretty misinformed about the iPod.

I got my iPod from Best Buy a few days ago. It would cost me 50$ to replace the Zen's battery, but Best Buy has a 3-year coverage plan that they are selling for 50$. If anything goes wrong with my iPod, I will have it replaced with a brand new one. If the battery stops charging, I can get it replaced at no additional charge.

I can renew the coverage for about the same price and keep extending it. I figure that I would end up spending 50$ to "extend" my Zen with a new battery at that price, right around that time frame. I'll also admit that I bought a 20 gig 4th gen iPod that had been returned after 1 day, as I saved a bundle of money on it, and still quality for the care coverage plan.

I'll still have to keep a backup of most of my music, in the event that my iPod somehow fails me, but I'd need to do it with my Zen Xtra as well.

I like both players, as they do what they are supposed to do. The size difference doesn't seem too huge to me. The things that really sold me were realizing a new battery = 50$ for Zen, and 3 years coverage for 50$ = new iPod in event of problems, and iPod's interface was a bit easier for me to use.

I think both devices math up well, with the only major difference being the user interface.

What's wrong with all you people, most of you are bitching about how ipod shuffle doesn't have a screen. Most of the people that had ipod they cracked their screen which shows that they cannot take care of their ipod and they don't deserve to have a screen.
Plus look at the size and cost it's a bargain compared to other mp3 players.

"Restricted to iTunes"

hehe, I wonder how us Linux users make do with iPods and no iTunes...
